Media Federation of India (MFI) is a reputed national organisation established by journalists and for journalists across the country. Founded in 2006 by a collective of leading journalist organisations in India, the Federation works to support, empower, and advance the professional interests of media practitioners.
Today, MFI represents a strong network of over 15,000 journalists, along with numerous journalist organisations, foundations, and prominent journalist societies from across the nation. The Federation maintains close and active engagement with working journalists, publishers of newspapers and magazines, professionals from television news channels, and practitioners across social and digital media platforms.
MFI regularly organises Media Excellence Awards, Film and Media Excellence Awards, seminars, business summits, news forums, skill-exchange workshops, and a wide range of professional development activities dedicated to the welfare and growth of journalists. Journalists from rural and urban regions form the backbone of the Federation, and special emphasis is placed on enhancing their professional skills, working conditions, and standards.
With a strong presence in major metropolitan cities, MFI continues to expand its national footprint. In addition, the Federation has launched a significant initiative to bridge the gap between the media industry and academia. As part of this effort, MFI is inducting media academicians from India, as well as foreign journalists and international media organisations, to strengthen knowledge sharing, research, and capacity-building within the profession.
The core philosophy of the Media Federation of India is to provide support, advocacy, and opportunities to the journalist community from the local to the global level. The Federation’s primary objective is to foster unity within the profession and collectively elevate the quality of journalism and the overall professional and personal well-being of journalists.
Business Summit
MFI also organises Business Summits aimed at empowering newspaper publishers, news channel professionals, and digital media platforms. These summits are regularly held in metropolitan cities and major towns across the country, providing a dynamic platform for dialogue, networking, innovation, and sustainable growth within the media industry.

MFI organises prestigious National Awards and, in parallel, conducts State-level Awards across almost all states of India to recognise excellence in journalism at both national and regional levels. In addition, MFI has taken proactive steps to organise seminars and knowledge-sharing programmes focused on the holistic professional development of journalists.
Training
The Media Federation of India provides career opportunities to its members and journalists across technical, non-technical, and allied fields. Along with employment support, MFI focuses on skill development and continuous learning to enhance professional growth. The core objective of the Federation is to open meaningful and sustainable career pathways for its associated members and the wider journalist community.
